Hynes Charter School Corporation (HCSC) seeks Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring financial stability and driving our mission forward through strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate is a skilled financial strategist passionate about making a lasting impact on the quality and accessibility of education for all students. 

About Hynes 

Hynes is a growing network of three open-enrollment K-8 schools in New Orleans, dedicated to providing high quality education to the children of New Orleans. Originally founded in 1952 and relaunched as a charter school in 2006, Hynes-Lakeview has consistently earned Louisiana’s “A” rating and recognition as a “Top Gains Honoree” for exceptional student progress. In partnership with the University of New Orleans, Hynes opened its second school, Hynes-UNO, in 2019. This campus is a slow-grow model, adding a grade each year until reaching eighth grade in 2027-2028. In August of 2021, Hynes-Parkview opened as our third campus. We currently serve approximately 1700 students from throughout the New Orleans area. You uphold the highest standards of transparency and ethical decision-making in all financial matters.You are able to think beyond traditional financial management, with an understanding of the broader impact of investment in quality education.  

In addition, you consistently do the following:   

  • Develop and implement financial strategies and policies.
  • Lead audits, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Represent Hynes publicly on financial matters and manage healthy relationships with external stakeholders (board, funders, state and local agencies etc.).
  • Ensure the financial integrity of Hynes and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and covenants.
  • Negotiate and develop positive relationships with investors/sources of capital to ensure valuable financing terms and potential for renewal.
  • Negotiate large purchasing decisions and contracts.
  • Ensure appropriate insurance coverage is in place.
  • Sets effective approach to cash management.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to support educational goals.

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of finance experience and 5 years of management, preferably in the education sector.
  • Strategic vision and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and strong leadership.
