Position Description
Educators for Quality Alternatives
EQA serves students who have dropped out, been expelled from, or have struggled academically or behaviorally in traditional settings and are looking for an accelerated path to graduation. There are three high school campuses, The NET: Central City which opened in 2011, The NET: Gentilly which opened in 2017, and a third high school campus, The NET: East, located at the New Orleans East Opportunity Center. Students at the high schools earn a high school diploma and participate in internships, career counseling, and career training in various fields including construction, medical, and digital media. EQA also serves middle school students through The Bridge Middle School, a therapeutic program for 7th and 8th grade struggling students. For all settings, our goal is that our students leave school with the skills, confidence and experience necessary to succeed in the career and education path of their choice.

Roles and Responsibilities
Depending upon the school and position, math teachers generally teach a combination of two of the following courses:
● Geometry
● Advanced Math
EQA High School Math Teachers are responsible for:
Using Tier 1 curriculum and assessments
Planning and implementing engaging, rigorous, and differentiated instruction
Building and leveraging transformative relationships for student growth
Assessing and monitoring student progress on an individual and course level
Constantly developing your own craft

EQA programs are built on the belief that alternative schools should not punish or "fix" young people; they should be vibrant, flexible, and restorative environments that support students in being their best selves.
EQA serves students aged 12 – 21 through a year-round curriculum. True to the moniker, the schools are designed to meet students where they are, provide them with academic, career, and life training, and raise their own, their families’, and society’s expectations of their abilities and their future prospects.
Students at our high school campuses earn Louisiana High School Diplomas and complete professional internships which help them start their careers.
