Founded in 2005, Einstein Charter Schools is a top performing, tuition free, open admissions network of 4 schools in New Orleans East, serving grades PK-12. Our schools are: Sherwood Forest, Village De L’est, Einstein Middle School, and Sarah T. Reed High School. Authorized by the Orleans Parish School Board, we service the needs of more than 1,600 students, over 30% of whom receive ELL services.

Position Overview
The ELL/Diverse Learners Instructional Coach, having both content and instructional expertise, will work as a colleague with classroom teachers and leaders to support student learning and teacher practice. The Instructional Coach will provide instructional support and coaching to teachers as they work to ensure that each student is able to reach his or her academic potential. The Instructional Coach’s primary role is to work with teachers to support best practices in using data, provide analysis of school-wide trends in instruction, and make recommendations about potential next steps to address areas of need. The Instructional Coach will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding about researched-based effective instruction for teachers. In order to meet this purpose, The Instructional Coach will provide personalized, 1:1 support based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers.
Reports to the Executive Director of Leadership and Learning
Key Responsibilities
- Support all ELL/Diverse Learners programming
- Facilitate professional development of teachers with a focus on improving student achievement.
- Create positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Communicate and demonstrate researched-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
- React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
- Provide individualized, classroom-based coaching and modeling to support teachers in implementing good instructional practices.
General Responsibilities
- Plan collaboratively with school leaders for teacher support.
- Provide ongoing content specific professional development to teachers..
- Provide regular feedback to school leaders about teacher progress.
- Provide support in analyzing school data and student assessment data.
- Format data so it is easily understood and communicated.
- Assist teachers with instructional decisions based on assessment data.
- Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies.
- Assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with curriculum and the state assessments.
- Provide teachers resources related to curriculum and instruction with a focus on conceptual learning.
- Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.
- Model effective instruction weekly for teachers using technology if needed.
- Encourage and facilitate ongoing professional growth for content specific teachers.
- Work positively toward meeting identified goals.
- Assist with the development of curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
- Be knowledgeable of the Louisiana State Content Standards and stay abreast of the shifts that occur.
- Assist teachers with proper planning to execute rigorous lessons.
- Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers.
- Participate fully in professional development for coaches, including peer observations, professional research, and reading.
- Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum, and assessments.
- Work collaboratively and collegially with other directors, curriculum specialists, and principals.
- Assisting teachers with setting rigorous goals for tiered instruction.

Requirements
Skills/Qualifications
- A Masters degree is preferred with an emphasis on curriculum or administration and ESL teaching certification.
- Proven track record of excellence as a classroom teacher with predictive characteristics of an outstanding administrator.
- Experience working with adult learners, coaching teachers, and delivering professional development.
- Strong record of helping students achieve academic success, primarily with minority and low income students
- Experience in analyzing data and using results to modify curricula
- Multi-faceted, multi-skilled, resourceful, and willing to do whatever it takes to help our students reach a level of academic excellence
- Model positive and healthy character traits and habits, such as being organized, consistent and understanding
- Unquestioned integrity and commitment to Einstein’s mission and willingness to serve the Einstein community
Evaluation
- Annual school review, including analysis of student achievement data
- Evaluated by the Executive Director of Leadership and Learning
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
