Reports to: Director of Middle School
Start Date: July 1, 2025


Primary responsibilities include:
● Implementing and fostering a joyful classroom environment and encouraging all learners in a
child-centered approach.
● Creating and implementing authentic Arts-Integrated instruction and Project-Based Learning
practices in an academically rigorous setting.
● Teaching the whole child, including social/emotional learning, with a focus on logical and restorative
approaches to problem solving.
● Providing thoughtful differentiated instruction to each student.
● Building and maintaining strong relationships with parents and families through open, consistent,
and positive communication.
● Creating and/or maintaining appropriate records and assessments.
● Developing and implementing appropriate intervention strategies in collaboration with student
support staff.
● Maintaining professional competence through participation in professional development
opportunities.
● Consistently collaborating with team members.
● Participating in school-sponsored community events.
● Leading classroom assistants, student teachers, and/or volunteers in addressing the needs of
students.


Required Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in
Education or related field.
● Certification in area of instruction.
● Commitment to progressive education
practices.
● Experience in a classroom setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience as a lead teacher in New Orleans.
● Background in the Arts.
● Diverse life and work experiences.
● Demonstrated success working in urban
settings.
