Position Summary
The School Secretary provides essential administrative support to the school's leadership team, contributing to the efficient operation of the school. This role involves managing office tasks, handling communication, and assisting with various administrative functions to create a well-organized and welcoming environment for students, parents, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides customer service to teachers, parents, students, and outside agencies by communicating school related information verbally or in writing.
- Maintains the school’s regular filing system for student, personnel, and school business records.
- Performs bookkeeping tasks associated with the school's system of management.
- Compiles and maintains routine officer reports.
- Schedules and arranges appointments for school related business.
- Uses the school district’s purchasing process to requisition supplies and equipment.
- Assists School Director with management of the receiving process and submission of required documents to relevant central office staff.
- Operates office equipment and uses Microsoft Office Word, EXCEL, and PowerPoint to prepare various types of communications.
- Organizes office, schedules work as necessary.
- Obtains, organizes, and distributes student records using the assigned student information system.
- May be required to work odd hours depending upon workload demand.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Educational Background
- High school diploma required. Associate degree preferred.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in administrative support, preferably in an educational setting;
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;
- Proficient in office software;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies;
- The ability to keep concise records and handle sensitive information with discretion;
- The ability to work with a diversity of individuals and groups;
- The ability to adapt to changing work priorities and maintain flexible working hours.

Performance Evaluation
The employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification.
