Job Description

About Collegiate Academies

Collegiate Academies schools are at the forefront of the increase in New Orleans’ and Baton Rouge’ students attending college. We build world-class public schools that prepare all students for college success. We embrace meeting the needs of every student. For us, when we say "all" scholars, we mean Black and Brown scholars, scholars who come in 5 years below reading level, students who are ready for AP classes in the 9th grade, students who are overaged for their grade, students who have an IEP or 504 or BIP, the list goes on! Our mission is radical. Black and brown students too often hear that college isn't an option for them. We are proud that our high schools have the most growth in our cities for populations that historically see many obstacles to college acceptance. And we continue to inspire our scholars' college future while relentlessly removing barriers. As a result we celebrate yearly as we see our scholars matriculate into college and postsecondary options like Brown University, Tulane University, Opportunities Academy, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with selective scholarships like from Posse Foundation, The Gates Scholarship, and TOPS.

The Network Team

Our mission is radical and chasing can be enhanced by longevity within CA. We expect our Network Teammates to exemplify the best of our schools and our current teammates have an advantage in knowing and practicing what it takes to achieve our radical mission. As such, we consider internal teammates before external applicants for Network Team and leadership positions. The most effective members of the Network Team have the following in common:

  • They were strong performers in their prior roles as demonstrated by growing quickly from feedback and meeting established goals that improved scholar outcomes.
  • They are models of the best of what happens in and is demanded by schools, including mastering core teacher moves (e.g. Key 3, planning from exemplars, data-tracking) and culture building strategies (i.e. model, affirm, and remind).
  • They choose flexibility to remove the most obstacles to our mission, oftentimes adapting their role to the present needs of schools and scholars.

The demands on the Network Team are designed to match and/or exceed the demands of teachers. Applicants must be seeking to grow themselves more in chasing our mission. Those seeking to “leave the classroom” will find Network Team roles to be disappointing.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Increase college persistence and degree attainment for CA graduates.
  • Track scholar performance at each school to affirm and share bright spots across the network, support school teams in executing best practices, and collaborating with leaders to close gaps.

College Counselor Development

  • Support schools in achieving major quarterly projects that align with year-end goals and college readiness, including: college matriculation, FAFSA completion, college applications, and college matching.
  • Model excellent teaching practices when leading professional development and excellent coaching and culture building practices when developing school-based leaders.
  • Work closely with the Chief of Staff, Network Director of College Partnerships School Leaders, and other teammates in college support roles to ensure aligned goals and execution of strategies.
  • Monitor progress in all indicators related to scholars at CA High Schools being on track for college admissions to colleges with the highest likelihood or degree attainment and lowest debt.
  • Build a strong relationship and partnership with each instructional leader, getting to know their strengths and areas of growth, and developing a deep understanding of how their school is structured and how the team gets work done
  • Become an expert of the college landscape, federal student aid and scholarship opportunities, CA-specific college success rates.
