Job Description
PART-TIME TECHNOLOGY TEACHER
Job Goal: To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that are aligned to the Louisiana State Curriculum that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible men and women who become lifelong learners.
Position Summary
The Part-Time Technology Teacher will support the integration of technology throughout the K–8 curriculum, deliver engaging and age-appropriate technology instruction, help students develop digital literacy and computational thinking skills, and collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to enhance teaching and learning through technology.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and teach a cohesive technology curriculum for Grades K through 8, with age-appropriate scope and sequence (e.g., digital citizenship, typing/keyboarding, coding fundamentals, multimedia production, robotics, research skills).
Plan and deliver lessons that align with school values, the instructional framework, and relevant standards.
Work closely with classroom teachers to integrate technology tools and resources into their content areas; support project-based learning and cross-grade collaboration.
Provide direct instruction in the technology lab or designated classroom, and also support mobile/embedded technology usage in other settings.
Manage and maintain the technology classroom environment: devices, software licenses, peripherals, consumables, and workstations.
Support students in troubleshooting basic hardware/software issues, encourage responsible and ethical use of technology, and model digital citizenship.
Facilitate student opportunities for creative expression, collaboration, and problem-solving using technology (e.g., coding clubs, maker projects, digital media creation).
Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments; provide feedback; use data to inform instruction and adjust curriculum as needed.
Participate in professional development, collaborate with instructional technology staff, stay current with emerging technologies and educational best practices.
Contribute to school-wide efforts around technology planning, digital safety, and equitable access; support the implementation of school and district technology initiatives.
Communicate with parents/guardians about the technology program, student progress, and expectations for digital learning at home.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree. Louisiana certification preferred
Excellent classroom management skills and ability to engage students across all elementary and middle school age levels.
Effective collaborator, communicator, and team player in working with teachers, administrators, and support staff.
Commitment to equity, culturally responsive teaching, and supporting diverse learners.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Classroom and lab environment; mobile device carts may require some physical activity.
Ability to lift and move equipment (e.g., laptops, tablets, robotics kits) as needed.
Plans and delivers engaging, differentiated technology instruction aligned with school goals.
Demonstrates positive student outcomes in digital literacy, computational thinking, and safe/ethical technology use.
Builds strong partnerships with classroom teachers, integrates technology meaningfully across content areas.
Maintains an organized, efficient technology environment and supports reliable access for students and staff.
Continuously reflects on practice and leverages professional learning to enhance the technology program.
