Morris Jeff Community School is currently hiring for the 2026–2027 School Year for Lower School (Grades K-5).
This position will begin at the start of the 2026–2027 academic year.
Overview: Morris Jeff Community School seeks Art teachers who are committed to the mission and vision of the school, who will hold themselves and their students to high expectations for performance and achievement, and who will model unwavering professionalism at all times.
The Lower School Arts Teacher delivers visual and/or performing arts instruction for Grades K–5 aligned with Louisiana standards and the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Teach all assigned classes
Document all syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and other curricular materials
Work closely with all support staff to develop and implement strategies for all students to be successful
Implement accommodations for students with learning differences
Maintain a neat, orderly, aesthetically pleasing, and vibrant learning environment that is inviting, exciting, and nurturing to all students
Maximize time for instruction and learning
Manage learner behavior to provide productive learning opportunities
Reinforce all school rules and expectations in the classroom and on campus
Maintain communication and relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Implement Tier One, research-based curriculum through best practices in planning, instruction, and assessment
Hold all students to high expectations for learning, working, and behaving
Reflect on teaching practice regularly
Use all pertinent data to drive instruction and assessment
Participate in professional development at the school level, the IB level, and other opportunities beyond the school to continue to learn and grow as an educator in the 21st century
Be actively on duty when in any area of the building and campus, monitoring students for their safety and well-being
Complete other tasks as deemed necessary by the director or school principal
The qualifications for teachers are:
Hold a Bachelor's degree (or higher)
Advanced degrees in education or teaching/content area preferred
Louisiana teacher certification in area of teaching assignment

Belief and determination to hold all students to high expectations for learning, working, and behaving
Possess, articulate, and demonstrate strong knowledge of best practices around teaching, managing, and assessing students from many diverse populations
Possess, articulate, and demonstrate ability to work with students who have many, varied learning styles and needs in a heterogeneous classroom setting where all students are held to the highest expectations and are supported when they struggle
Demonstrate ability to work with and collaborate with colleagues, parents, and business/community members
Reflect on one's educational practice
