Position Summary
The Neglected & Delinquent Program Tutor a residential facility-based position located at either Boys Town or Raintree House and is responsible for improving educational services for children and youth in local, tribal, and State institutions who are neglected, or delinquent children and youth, so that they can meet the same challenging State academic standards that all children in the State are expected to meet. This position provides individual or small group instruction to students assigned to the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Be available for up to 8 hours per week, generally Monday through Thursday between the hours of 3:30-7 pm to provide tutoring services at assigned residential facility
- Use specified evidence-based small group and/or individual instruction to improve educational services for children and youth in local, tribal, and State institutions who are neglected, or delinquent students across subject areas and assessment preparation;
· Incorporate educational technology into lessons to enhance learning experiences;
- Provide youth with well-rounded learning experiences including, but not limited to exploration opportunities;
- Build meaningful relationships with youth and decrease the likelihood of dropout;
- Maintain accurate data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress;
- Interact collaboratively and productively with site personnel;
- Perform other related jobs as needed.
Educational Background
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, and meet the requirements and expectations set in Act 99;
- Valid Louisiana teaching certification strongly preferred;
- Teaching experience strongly preferred.
