Job Description

The Mission: Defying the Status Quo to Build a New Legacy

At Collegiate Academies, we don’t just run schools; we build engines of social mobility. We are at the absolute epicenter of the movement to send New Orleans and Baton Rouge students to college. While others talk about "potential," we produce results.

When we say "all scholars," we don't use it as a buzzword. We mean the scholars who arrived five years behind grade level, the 9th graders ready for AP English, the overaged students, and the scholars with IEPs, 504s, or BIPs. We believe every single one of them is college-bound. Our high schools boast the highest growth in our cities for populations that historically face the steepest mountains. We don’t just nudge the needle; we break it.

We're proud to revitalize the legacies and add the next great chapter to the storied histories of George Washington Carver, Marion Abramson, Walter L. Cohen, and Sarah T. Reed while establishing new legacies at Collegiate Baton Rouge and Opportunities Academy. Our successes in academics and college are mirrored in marching band, athletics, and leadership

The Proof: Our Scholars Are Winning

We don’t settle for "okay." We celebrate as our scholars crush barriers to enter the world’s most elite institutions and programs, including:

  • The Ivies & Elites: Brown University, Tulane University, and Grinnell College.
  • The Bridge Builders: Opportunities Academy, ULL LEP Program, and Next Level NOLA.
  • The Culture Bearers: Southern University, Alcorn State University, and Xavier University
  • The Game-Changers: Recipients of the Posse Foundation Scholarship, The Gates Scholarship, and TOPS.

Our Culture: High Stakes, Higher Joy

Working at CA is intense. We move fast, we pivot often, and we hold ourselves to a world-class standard. But here’s the secret: it’s also the most fun you’ll ever have.

Roles and Responsibilities: Your Impact

Relentlessly Prepare 100% of Students

  • Prepare and execute lesson plans that explicitly teach rigorous content while reinforcing the academic habits it takes to succeed in college.
  • Contribute to each student’s future college success, regardless of their starting point, through strong execution and contributions to their individualized plans.
  • Deliver feedback daily to each student, in-person and through grading, that puts them on the path to mastery.
  • Record, analyze, and act on data frequently to move scholars closer to the academic standard and college-ready habits it takes to succeed in college.

Grow Yourself & Your Team

  • Find the strongest teachers in the building and urgently grow from their model.
  • Immediately practice and implement what you learn in professional development to the benefit of team and scholar culture.
  • Engage in the CA feedback loop: give and receive direct, actionable coaching daily to sharpen your craft.
  • Collaborate across teams to break down barriers for scholars—if a student is struggling, it’s everyone’s job to find the solution.

Openly Share Joy

  • Spread the belief that each scholar is college material in every interaction with scholars, families, and teammates.
  • Make the choice to build team and scholar culture by recognizing and celebrating the small, daily achievements of others.

Typical Courses Offered: Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) in: Algebra I & Geometry, English I & English II, US History & Biology, and Specialized Programs for: Severe and Profound (Essential Skills), Mild to Moderate (REACH), and a Therapeutic Setting (Journey)

Qualifications: Are You CA Ready?

  • The Baseline: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • The Experience: 2+ years of professional similar experience. We prefer candidates who have a track record of success with students or communities similar to ours.
  • The Mindset: You are hungry for feedback, eager to remove the toughest obstacles, and possess a "radical" belief in the power of Black and Brown scholars.
  • The Vibe: You take your work seriously, but not yourself. You’re ready to sweat for the mission and then paint your face for Homecoming with the team.

Ready to do the hardest, best work of your life?

Radical Compensation for Radical Work

Our scholars lead the state in growth because our teams lead the way in excellence. We believe world-class results deserve top-of-market pay. At Collegiate Academies, your paycheck isn't just a number—it’s a reflection of your growth and your commitment to our communities.

The CA Growth Engine: Your Salary Trajectory

We don’t believe in the "slow climb." Because our teammates grow faster here, their salaries do too. While nearby parishes and networks might offer incremental changes, we outpace the region with a compensation structure built for high-performers:

  • Annual Growth: Every teammate sees at least a 3% salary increase annually.
  • The Longevity Leap: We reward commitment with periodic 5% increases to recognize your lasting impact on our scholars.
  • The Distinguished Educator (DE) Path: We believe our strongest teachers should stay exactly where they are—with our kids. In your 5th year at CA, you are eligible to become a Distinguished Educator, adding a permanent $5,000 stipend to your base salary without ever having to leave the classroom.
