Job Description

Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (K-8)

Purpose of Position: To support the communication development and academic success of students by providing high-quality speech and language services across the school community

Employment Status: Full-time Reporting

Reports to: Chief Academic Officer

Location: Assigned campus

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver and coordinate speech and language services for students
  • Conduct and coordinate speech-language evaluations in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines
  •  Develop and implement individualized therapy plans aligned to student needs and IEP goals
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in individual and small group settings
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
  • Refer identified communication concerns to appropriate resources for further evaluation or support
  •  Collaborate with teachers to integrate communication strategies into the classroom
  • Provide consultative support to staff working with students receiving speech services
  • Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress and needs

Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation including evaluation reports, therapy logs, and IEP progress notes
  • Ensure all services are delivered in compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and school policies
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of compliant and appropriate plans
  • Monitor and ensure timelines for evaluations, re-evaluations, and service delivery are met
  • Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and other applicable laws

 

Provide District and building level support
 

  • Work with the Director of Special Populations to implement systems for service delivery, data collection, and compliance
  • Provide training and technical assistance to staff related to speech and language development and support strategies
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to families’ and students’ individual differences and cultural backgrounds
  • Allocate time and resources effectively across multiple campuses
  • Serve as a resource to school personnel regarding communication development and interventions

Education, Training and Experience:

REQUIRED

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Louisiana
  • Eligible for or holding Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
  • Experience working with school-aged children
  • Knowledge of special education law and IEP development

PREFERRED

  • Experience working in a school setting (K–8)
  • Experience working across multiple campuses or diverse student populations
  • Bilingual (English/French or English/Spanish) a plus
